About Me
Jon Flikkie is a Los Angeles–based actor, sound designer, and composer whose work explores the relationship between performance and sound. Being a performer for as long as he can remember, he decided at the age of twelve that acting was the career he wanted—and he has been pursuing it ever since.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Berea College, where his creative path unexpectedly expanded beyond the stage. While continuing to perform in productions every semester, he became the head sound designer for the Berea Jelkyl Drama Center—designing the sound for the theater’s full season of productions. Balancing performance with sound design, he appeared in roles such as Boris Alexeyevich Trigorin in The Seagull, an aged Dr. Frankenstein in Playing with Fire, and Mr. McQueen in Urinetown, all while simultaneously shaping the sonic world of each production.
Following graduation, Flikkie moved to California to attend the California Institute of the Arts, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts in sound design. His time there broadened his artistic practice across theater, film, and live performance, deepening the connection between his work as a performer, composer, and designer. At CalArts he designed multiple productions each year, released a fully independent instrumental EP, began working in film—both on camera and in post-production, and served as the audio engineer for the Voice Over class taught by Bernie Van de Yacht and ML Gemmill. In 2025, he became the youngest member of his family to earn a master’s degree.
Today, Flikkie continues working across stage, film, and voice over as both an actor and sound designer. He still works with Bernie Van de Yacht in helping push the graduating actors towards success in the voice over world. He is also a co-founder of Renaissance Men Studios, a Los Angeles voice-over recording studio dedicated to supporting performers and storytellers. Outside of his artistic work, he continues composing music and is currently pursuing his certification in personal training with a focus on bodybuilding.
